The material

A handmade tile does not seek regularity. Glaze applied by hand varies from piece to piece, edges are never quite straight, and that is what gives the wall its vibration.

We distinguish two families. First, tiles that are truly glazed or shaped by hand, such as Barro's in Portugal. Then ceramics produced in a more industrial way but designed to keep that look: a pronounced bevel, an irregular surface, a nuanced glaze.

Frequently asked questions

Are handmade tiles harder to install?

+

They need a careful installer: slight differences in thickness, tiles mixed from several boxes to spread the shades. We give these instructions with the order.

Are lead times longer?

+

Often, as production is limited and sometimes made to order. We confirm the lead time reference by reference.
