The architectural ornament we distribute is produced by Orac Decor, a Belgian manufacturer specialising for over 50 years in Duropolymer® mouldings — a high-density, highly stable polymer, immune to humidity and freeze-thaw cycles, which outperforms plaster, extruded polystyrene and timber for decorative elements indoors and out. The range covers: skirtings from 10 to 25 cm high, ceiling cornices (classical, Art Deco, contemporary and modernist profiles), dado rails and wall panelling mouldings, ceiling roses for lighting, large 3D wall panels (Cubi, Autoportant, Deco ranges) and integration profiles for linear LED indirect lighting.
All pieces ship ready to paint (factory-applied white primer) and are bonded with Orac Decofix Power or Decofix Pro structural adhesive — no screws or nails. Set time is under an hour; finishing is done with acrylic sealant and final paint (lacquer, matt, satin). The Duropolymer® density produces a crisp, lasting profile and offers higher impact resistance than plaster. The offer suits interior architects working revisited classical schemes (contemporary Haussmannian, Art Deco), decorators structuring volumes through panelling, and private clients renovating a period flat. In our Passy (16e) and Brunel (17e) showrooms, a dedicated wall displays the profiles in context at 1:1.
What is Duropolymer®?
+
Duropolymer® is a high-density thermosetting polymer (around 500 kg/m³) developed by Orac Decor. It is four times denser than extruded polystyrene, waterproof, non-flammable (B-s1,d0 rating), dimensionally stable from -20°C to +60°C. It can be moulded with a profile as crisp as plaster while weighing three to five times less. It is the reference material for contemporary ready-to-paint mouldings.
How is an Orac Decor skirting installed?
+
Bonded with Decofix Pro or Power adhesive: clean the wall and the skirting, apply a zigzag bead on the back, press for 2 minutes, hold for 30 minutes with masking tape. Corners are mitered at 45° on a mitre saw. Joints are filled with acrylic sealant, then the skirting receives its final paint. No screws, no nails, no sawdust.
Can Orac mouldings be used outdoors?
+
Yes, some ranges are certified exterior (Luxxus Exterior, Autoire Exterior): UV, freeze-thaw and permanent humidity resistant. They are used for façade cornices, window surrounds and decorative motifs. Installation is similar to interior, with specific Decofix Extreme adhesive and a neutral silicone joint for weatherproofing.
Can LED lighting be integrated into a cornice?
+
Yes, Orac offers a dedicated series (Lighting profiles — C991, C381, C383, XL profiles) with an internal rebate or specific groove to receive an LED strip. Light is indirect, reflected off the wall or ceiling, delivering the diffuse effect widely used in contemporary interior design. A 24V LED strip, 10-14 W/m, IP20, 2,700-3,000 K, delivers the expected warm light.
Does ornament installation require a specialist plasterer?
+
No, this is one of the strengths of the Orac system: installation is bonded, with no traditional plastering skills needed. A good carpenter, experienced painter or methodical DIYer can complete the work with a mitre saw, a glue gun and a tube of acrylic sealant. For 3D wall panels and large-scale projects, we recommend partner installers trained on the products.
