Haussmannian apartment, the right materials
The Parisian Haussmannian apartment has a precise architectural vocabulary, ceiling heights of 2.80 to 3.20 m, ceiling mouldings, fireplaces, Hungarian-point parquet and large-pane windows. Composing a renovation within this frame means agreeing to dialogue with the codes of the place, mouldings, proportions, light from the street-facing façades, rather than erasing them.
At Atelier Matière, from the 16th, 17th, 8th and 7th arrondissements, we compose projects that reinvest these apartments without betraying them. White marbles, brushed brass, signed textiles, Orac Decor ornaments restored or newly created, the register is known and endlessly renewable. Here are the material families that hold up best in this context.
Classic marbles and white stone
Calacatta, Statuario, Thassos, Carrara and Nero Marquina for contrast. Classic marbles naturally dialogue with Haussmannian codes, original marble fireplaces, lobby floor pavings, entrance claddings. We offer them in solid stone from Petra Stones or Marmi for washbasin counters, fireplaces and signature kitchen worktops. In large-format porcelain stoneware, the same effects dress a bathroom floor or a splashback without the maintenance of marble.
Brushed brass and warm finishes
Brushed brass immediately warms a white marble and dialogues with the original joinery, door hardware and antique light fittings. The PVD finishes from Zucchetti (PanS), TREEMME (IOS, UP) and STELLA (Sirius, Roma) hold their colour over time. English Gold, Brushed Nickel and Antique Bronze make it possible to fine-tune the register, from the most discreet to the most signature, for taps as well as accessories.
Orac Decor mouldings, restore or create
When the original mouldings have been removed during an older renovation, the Orac Decor Luxxus and Axxent catalogues allow cornices, dado rails, skirtings and ceiling roses to be rebuilt in Duropolymer®. Ready to paint and installed with Decofix adhesive, the elements regain the right proportion for the room. When original mouldings are preserved, a painter restores and brings them back to life. In both cases, the ornaments frame the room without freezing it.
