Haussmannian bathroom, marbles, brasses and mouldings
The Parisian Haussmannian apartment imposes a frame, mouldings, parquet, generous ceiling heights and the soft light of street-facing façades. A bathroom slid into this context can play two cards, the contemporary extension that cuts sharply through, or the revisited classical that dialogues with the codes of the place. Both work, provided they are owned.
At Atelier Matière, we regularly compose bathrooms for apartments in the 16th, 17th, 8th and 7th arrondissements. White marble, brushed brass, a wide framed mirror, Orac Decor mouldings restored or newly made, it is a vocabulary we master.
Classic marbles
Calacatta, Statuario and Thassos for the white range, Nero Marquina for contrast, Rosso Levanto or Verde Alpi for a hit of colour, Carrara for a more discreet version. Petra Stones and Marmi supply solid stone in 2 to 3 cm thicknesses. Our porcelain stoneware partners (Lea Ceramiche, Cotto d'Este, Florim) offer the same effects in ceramic for large-format flooring.
Brushed brass and warm finishes
Brushed-brass taps (Zucchetti PanS, TREEMME IOS, STELLA Sirius) bring the discreet warmth that lifts a white marble. PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) finishes last over time with no colour loss. English Gold, Brushed Nickel or Antique Bronze, depending on the register sought.
Mouldings, restoring or creating
If the apartment still has its original mouldings, they frame the bathroom like any other room, painted to match the ceiling or lightly contrasted. If the mouldings have been removed, the Orac Decor Duropolymer® ranges make it possible to recompose cornices, dado rails and skirtings, ready to paint, installed with adhesive.
Light, mirrors and sconces
The Haussmannian bathroom calls for warm but crisp light, for make-up and shaving. Sconces above or on either side of the mirror, 2700 to 3000 K colour temperature, CRI above 90 for skin tones. Orac Decor LED profiles offer indirect light that redraws the volumes without a visible source.
